Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Programs - DHH (Deaf or hard of hearing), the Supervisor of Programs - DHH is responsible for coordinating the provision, quality, and daily management of programs in their designated province.
The Supervisor is also responsible to provide supportive leadership to APSEA employees in their department, translating priorities and vision into operational programs and initiatives that benefit learners and their families supported by APSEA.
The Supervisor also collaborates with APSEA Directors to assess learner needs while analyzing target population trends and profiles to recommend programs and service amendments. This individual will promote APSEA’s Vision and Mission internally and in the broader community.

Qualifications and Experience You Bring:
- A valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate.
- Master of Education of Students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, or equivalent.
- Master of Education in Educational Leadership Studies, or equivalent is preferred.
- Five (5) years experience teaching learners who are Deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting, including assessment and individualized planning.
- Previous or current experience in administration and/or leadership positions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in the assessment of learner needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services for learners who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate professional learning opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability in the management of human and fiscal resources within budget.
- Ability to apply knowledge, experience, and commitment in the areas of cross cultural understanding, human rights, and diversity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Deals openly, honestly and transparently in pursuit of common goals.
- Frequent extended days, provision of leadership may be required outside of the school year.
- Highly organized and detail oriented, with strong decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively, productively lead multiple priorities, and work in a team environment, contributing to organization and team success. Works collaboratively with APSEA colleagues, educational team members, and other agencies and educational partners.
- A forward looking individual who proactively seeks new knowledge and skills, who looks for opportunities to improve the organization and experience of learners/stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively in American Sign Language (ASL)
- French language proficiency is an asset.
- Regular travel is expected: access to a reliable mode of transportation is required.
